About the Library

The Church Street School Library strives to nurture students’ love of reading, inspire curiosity, and encourage each child to find his or her own unique way of contributing to the school community as well as the city of White Plains. 

Each class will come to the library on its assigned day for 40 minutes during the school's 6 day rotation.  Find your class's letter day here.

There will be time to borrow books during each library visit.  Students who have returned their books will be able to select new books.  

Students are welcome to continue reading books that they have not finished before their next library visit.  It is not necessary to bring the book to the school library to renew the book.

Late notices may be distributed to classroom teachers to send home as a reminder to return the book or to contact the librarian about lost or damaged books.

There are no fines for returning a book late! Students may be asked to find and return books before taking new books home. If books are lost or damaged, please reach out to the librarian. Families may choose to provide the replacement cost of a lost or damaged book.  Some families choose to purchase a replacement book (same title and edition.)  Please return damaged books for the librarian to assess and repair.  No home repairs necessary!
